Afghan Pooshesh Training Institute or APTI has been established following extensive efforts and careful planning to create a unique learning and skills-development institute in Afghanistan at international standards that supports and creates professionals and delivers success to knowledge seekers. APTI was, therefore, developed to provide training at an executive level in information and communications technologies, English and management.

APTI’s Focus

APTI is the first skills-development institute in Afghanistan that is qualified to:

• Teach certified advanced courses in information and communications technologies (ICT).
• Conduct Executive Programs offered by Microsoft, Linux, and Cisco (starting in November 2007) and Oracle (commencing January 2008) and award certificates in specialized software and hardware engineering and database management, formally issued by these institutions.
• Hold on-line tests and examinations in various disciplines that are the basis for awarding internationally-recognized Certificates of Achievements by Microsoft, Linux, Cisco, and Oracle as well as those required by international colleges and universities.
• Hold courses at international standards and issue appropriate certificates in Executive English Program (EEP), including developing conversation and writing skills for business, technical and administration.
• Hold courses and issue appropriate certificates in management, including in financial management, business development and general management (e.g., how to start-up a business), project development and management (project proposal writing, project cost-benefit analysis, and project supervision and monitoring), and resources management (e.g., supply chain management, and cost control).

APTI courses are geared towards creating professionals and mid-level managers in the field of ICT as well as administration, and business (e.g., construction, hospitality management, travel and tourism, and financial services). APTI courses are designed for students with a good background in English Language as the majority of courses and programs are taught in English and at international standards. These programs/courses are for students who want to acquire professional expertise side-by-side with their college/university education. The programs are divided into semesters, and also hourly blocks per day are used to provide sufficient flexibility for students to join any one semester or all the semesters and work at their own pace.

APTI’s Strengths

APTI aims to set the highest international standards for learning in Afghanistan. It is the only Institute in Afghanistan that has instructors certified by Microsoft and other leaders in the IT industry such as LINUX and CISCO. The faculty also includes internationally recognized professionals and business leaders with significant experience in developing and managing international businesses and project development and management and administration who teach instructor-led as well as on-line classes at APTI.

APTI has the most modern facilities for class and on-line tuition that provide the right environment for learning. It has classrooms and laboratories equipped with the state-of-art servers and backbone infrastructure including the latest licensed software programs (e.g., Microsoft Windows Vista, Office Professional 2007) and hardware that meet the highest standards required by Microsoft of its certified learning partners (i.e., 5+), high speed (1 MB ) ip-VSAT-based Internet access, and video-conferencing and distance learning facilities.

APTI has developed partnership with the learning institutions in the United States (Strayer University, Phoenix On-line University), United Kingdom (Skillogy) and Australia (Melbourne Private University) to provide its students with international connections, experience and the latest technologies in skills development.

APTI is conveniently located at the heart of Kabul’s Business District in Shar-e-Naw. Classes run from 6 am to 9 pm to cater for the demanding schedules of all students. Tuition covers class instruction and the use of modern laboratories at APTI as well as the on-line exam fees.

APTI’s Online Testing Center

APTI’s online testing center is registered with and is licensed by Prometric & Pearson VUE, internationally recognized testing agencies with offices in more than 140 countries. Our online testing center meets VUE’s stringent standards for testing environment, security and integrity. The centre is under surveillance by security cameras as well as a trained supervisor. Its high speed Internet access and printing facilities enables APTI to provide the applicants with efficient and real time outcome of their test results, here in Afghanistan so that the applicants won’t have to travel overseas at significant cost and inconvenience to take professional examinations. In the case of ICT certificate programs, each test applicant would be required to take an aptitude test to ensure he/she is prepared take the on-line test. The applicants who pass the aptitude test will be allowed to take the on-line examination, and those who do not succeed would be required to take a refresher course at APTI before they are allowed to retake the on-line test.
